Our Little Pumpkin

Here are a few pictures of our little pumpkin in the Halloween candy. Don't worry - he didn't eat any...yet!

Lots of New Experiences

Austin is now five months old. I am constantly amazed at all of the new things he can do everyday!

He had his fourth month appointment two weeks ago (a little late due to my gall bladder removal) and checked out A-OK! He is in the 75th percentile for head size and weight and the 95th percentile for length. Maybe we really do have a future basketball player! The doctor said he is the size of an average seven month old! Yikes!

We are feeding him rice cereal and veggies with a spoon now. As you can tell from the picture, it is a pretty messy process. He is starting to get it though!

Austin also had his first Halloween. We went to the Halloween carnival in Whittier on Friday night. Dad was a jester and Austin was his little monkey. They were an ADORABLE pair!

Already 4 1/2 months old!

Where does the time go? And is it bad that the only time I have to post new pics is when I am laid up in a hospital bed after having my gall bladder removed?

At four months, Austin is doing many amazing things! He is rolling over from back to front. We haven't actually seen him do this, but I have laid him down in his crib for the night only to find him on the stomach a few minutes later when we check on him. He loves putting everything in his mouth including his fingers, my fingers, and Dad's fingers. And, of course, all his toys go in his mouth as seen in the above picture.

His favorite new activity is to blow raspberries. The front of his shirt is completely soaked from doing it, but he finds it hilarious! He also loves when his daddy blows raspberries on his neck. He laughs and laughs!

Please enjoy these new pictures. I promise to get better about posting more frequently! :)

Look What Austin Can Do!

This has been a fun week of Austin milestones! He is laughing and smiling a lot. He has figured out his hands and is grabbing toys. He has also figured out that he likes for everything to go in his mouth including toys, his fingers, and mom and dad's fingers. We are very excited to report that Austin is now sleeping through the night! Woo hoo!! It is so amazing to see him learn something new every day.

Train, Boat, and Automobile

In the past couple of weeks, Austin has been on the train, a boat, and of course, weekly trips to Anchorage Market in the car. He had his first train trip on the Chugach Explorer where we went from Whittier to the Grandview and Spencer glaciers. The rocking train make him sleep for most of the day. He also had his first fishing trip on Prince William Sound. Sadly, all that was caught was Pacific Cod. Thankfully, Austin is a great traveler!

Austin the Rocker

The first time I felt Austin move in my belly was during our Artist in Residence program when our musician was playing guitar. At that point, I knew Austin was destined to become a rocker! Nine weeks old and already sporting the faux hawk...

Dad and Son

Austin is a mini-me of Josh. All he needs is a little red beard to really look like his daddy!

2 months old!

Can you believe that Austin is already two months old? Actually, by the time I actually post this, he is ten weeks old. (Sorry - spending lots of time with the baby and less time on the internet, which is probably a good day!)

He is growing, growing, and growing! He is smiling much more regularly (mostly at this dad), but I haven't been able to really snap a good picture. I have been able to get some pretty goofy expressions to share.

Austin had a fun visit to Homer where he slept through his first trip in a boat on Kachemak Bay. That fresh air and boat motor will really knock a boy out!

Sleeping Like a Baby...

Sometimes he does sleep...

Working the Market

Austin has become quite the salesman at Saturday/Sunday market. He is the charmer who brings in the sales. Sadly, at the end of Sunday afternoon, Dad and Austin are pooped out from all the selling.

Six Weeks Birthday

The past three weeks have been very interesting as we watch Austin grow. Last week was tough as we listened to him cry and cry and cry. Finally, on Friday, I called the doctor, and we took Austin into Anchorage to see her. It turns out that our poor little guy has reflux, so every time he eats it comes back up and burns, hence the crying. He is taking infant Zantac which is sort of working. We are also sitting him up for 30 minutes after he eats and burping the heck out of him. There is nothing worse than the painful cry of your baby.

He has also been growing! He weighed 7 lb. 13 oz. at his doctor visit. He is now focusing his eyes on mom and dad as well as his toys. We have seen a couple of smiles (in between the tears). I am trying to catch one on film which I will immediately post!

Enjoy some pictures of Austin playing in his chair and his play mat.

I also love the very serious look he gets before deciding he is hungry.

Three Week Birthday

Austin's already three weeks old! He is doing what every newborn does: cry, eat, poop, and sleep. He is getting more alert during the day. We are having tummy time every day, and he seems to enjoy looking at himself in the mirror. Josh and I are adjusting to "baby schedule"; we are up every three-four hours for nursing and diaper changes. Josh is wonderful about diaper changes and swaddling after I nurse Austin.

I will try to get better about posting pictures and updates. Lack of sleep is catching up with me, and I can't seem to get anything done! :)

More pictures

Here are a couple more pictures from three days old.

Austin at 3 days old

Our handsome little guy is three days old and of course, the cutest baby on the planet! (Not that I am biased or anything) He has a good set of lungs on him - especially in the middle of the night. :)

All is going well in the hospital. He continues to pass all his assessments. Weight and blood sugar are both good.

I'll send better updates when I am not so sleep deprived! :)

Until then - enjoy the pictures!

A Little More of Austin

Day three of little Austin's life and mom and dad are exhausted! :)

Enjoy a few more pictures while I try to get enough energy to write more...
